Gulab Chand Tejumal Kirana Store

Gulab Chand Tejumal Kirana Store is right in the middle of the Sindhi Market here in Marwar. The market is quite old and our shop has been a part of it for a long time. We sell all the usual groceries like sugar, pulses, and oil. The shop is deep and has high ceilings where we store the extra sacks of grain. It’s always a little bit cooler inside because the walls are thick and old. The street outside is narrow, so people have to walk or use bicycles to get around easily. I spend my morning measuring out spices and tea into small packets. We have a digital scale now, but I still have the old manual one sitting on the shelf. The wooden counter is dark and smooth because so many people have used it over the years. You can always smell the coriander and turmeric when you walk in. The market is a noisy place, especially during the festivals, but I like the energy of it. Most of the people who shop here are our neighbors who have been coming to us for generations. I don't have any flashy lights or modern displays, just the same wooden shelves we’ve always had. I usually sit on a wooden chair near the entrance so I can greet everyone who passes by. It’s a simple, honest way to make a living.
