Gokul Chaat Corner

Our little corner is tucked away in Dhan Mandi at Bikaneriya Ka Baas. It is a very old part of the city. The streets are narrow and always full of carts and people carrying goods. We have been serving chaat here at number 37 for quite some time now. It is not a big restaurant or anything like that. Just a counter and a few stools on the pavement. We start prepping the potatoes and chutneys early in the morning. The green chutney is made fresh every single day because it loses its color otherwise. People from the offices nearby come here during their lunch break. They want something quick and spicy. We do not have a long menu. We just do a few things but we try to do them right. My brother handles the frying while I take the orders and handle the cash. Sometimes we lose track of who came first when the crowd gets thick. But usually, people are patient. They know we are working as fast as we can. The heat from the stove can be tough in the summer months. We have a small fan but it does not do much. Still, we enjoy the work. It is nice to be part of the daily life in the mandi. We do not have any branches or other shops. This is where you will find us every day except for some festival holidays when we stay home.
