Devaram Kirana Store

Devaram Kirana Store is on Punayata Road in Shekhawat Nagar. I started this shop because people in Shekhawat Nagar had to walk too far for basic things. Now they just come here. We have everything from lentils to soap bars. I keep the shop open until about nine at night. The morning shift is usually the busiest. I have to wake up early to get the fresh bread and milk delivered. The shop isn't fancy. It’s just a room with shelves packed to the ceiling. I know almost everyone who walks through the door. We talk about the weather or the local news while I bag their items. Sometimes the kids come in for candy after school. I have to keep an eye on them so they don't knock things over. Punayata Road can get a bit muddy when it rains, so I have to mop the floor a lot. It’s just part of the job. I don't have a computer here; I do all the math in my head or on a piece of paper. It works fine for me. People appreciate having a store close by. I don’t plan on changing much. Just keep the shelves full and the door open. My wife helps me sometimes in the evening when I need to step out for a bit. It is a simple life and it keeps us busy enough. We keep the inventory mostly the same because that is what people like around here. It works out.
