Deepak Departmental Stores

Deepak Departmental Stores is tucked away in Housing Board 12. Since we are located inside a residential area, the atmosphere is a bit more relaxed than the shops out on the main highway. Most of our customers are mothers coming in for household supplies or kids looking for a treat after they finish their homework. We have a bit of everything here, which is why we call it a departmental store. One corner has cleaning supplies and buckets, while the other side is full of biscuits and snacks. I spend a lot of time checking the dates on the milk and bread to make sure nothing stays on the shelf too long. The front window gets a lot of sun in the morning, so I have to be careful about where I put the chocolates so they don't melt in the heat. We have a small plastic fan that hums loudly all day long behind the counter. It is just me and my brother working here most of the time. We take turns sitting at the register and stocking the shelves. The neighbors often stay for a bit to talk about local news while we pack their bags. It is a comfortable routine for us. The shelves are made of simple metal and we try to keep them dusted, but the wind always brings in a bit of grit from the street. It is a practical place for people.
