Bhanwar Lal Dmaram

We are located near the Old Bus Stand, over in the E I S New Sabji Mandi area. It’s a very busy part of town. There are buses coming and going constantly and the sound of horns is something you just learn to ignore after a while. Bhanwar Lal Dmaram is the name on the front, though most people just know us by sight. We deal with vegetables mostly. Early morning is when it really happens. The trucks arrive while most people are still sleeping. We have to unload everything and get it sorted before the first customers show up. The floor is often wet from the washing of the produce and the ice. It’s hard work on the knees and the hands. We don't have much in the way of comfort, just a few wooden stools and a small area to keep our coats. The smell of fresh greens is everywhere. Sometimes it's nice, but when it's humid, it gets heavy. We've been in this spot for a long time. We know the other vendors and we look out for each other’s stalls if someone needs to step away. It's a simple way to live, working with the seasons and what the earth provides. There's no corporate ladder here, just the daily task of selling what we have.
