Agarwal General Store

I open the shutter around seven every morning at the Housing Board 2A1 spot because that is when people start coming out for milk and bread. It is usually quiet then except for a few birds and the early rickshaws. Agarwal General Store has been here for a good while and we just try to keep the shelves full of the things neighbors actually need like soap and pulses. The space inside is a bit tight because we have so many boxes stacked up, but everyone knows where everything is anyway. Sometimes the fan in the corner rattles a bit when it's on high speed during the afternoon heat. I spend a lot of time just sitting behind the counter checking the stock or talking to the regulars who live in the blocks nearby. They come in for one thing and end up staying for ten minutes just to catch up on the local gossip. We don't have any of those fancy scanners or anything, just a notebook and a pen for keeping track of things. It gets a bit dusty being so close to the road but we wipe down the counters when we can. Evenings are the busiest time when people are heading home and need something for dinner or a snack for the kids. It's just a regular life running a small shop here. Nothing too special happens most days but it keeps us busy and we know everyone around here by their first name and what they usually buy.
