Under An Architect

We work out of room 404 in the J-4 building of the Sahara Co-Op Housing society. It's tucked away behind Pereira Nagar in Naigaon East. It’s a bit of a trek if you aren't used to the Thane area, but it’s a good quiet spot for drafting and planning. Under An Architect is a small operation. We spend most of our time hunched over tables or looking at screens. The housing society is pretty normal, full of families and kids playing outside, which is a nice background noise for our afternoon shifts. We don't have a fancy studio with glass walls or a minimalist lobby. It’s more of a home-office vibe here in 401202. We’ve got rolls of drawings everywhere and samples of materials stacked in the corners. It’s a bit messy, to be honest, but we know where everything is. We don't really do marketing or anything like that. People just hear about us and come to the door. We talk about designs, look at the space they have, and try to make something work for them. It’s a lot of back and forth. Sometimes the electricity goes out for a bit, but we just take a break and wait it out. It’s just how things go here. We like the work and the people we meet in this community. It feels real and grounded compared to the big firms in the city center.
