Samson Gomes Architects

You can find us at Samson Gomes Architects over in Vasai East. We’re up on the fourth floor of Sohan Plaza, which is right across from the Shiv Sena office. It’s a bit of a climb if the elevator is acting up, but the view from the window is okay. Our office is usually covered in drawings, rolled-up blueprints, and lots of pens that have run out of ink. We spend a lot of time leaning over tables and arguing about where a wall should go or how to fit everything into a small space. It’s not a quiet, artistic studio like you might imagine. It’s more of a busy room where we’re constantly checking measurements and calling up contractors to see why they haven't started yet. Navghar is a lively part of town, so there’s always something happening downstairs. We’ve been in this building for a while now and the space has grown a bit cramped with all the files we’ve kept over the years. We don't really have a fancy portfolio on display; usually, it’s just whatever we’re working on right now spread out for everyone to see. It’s practical work. We like being in Vasai because it feels more grounded than the city. Sometimes we stay late when a deadline is coming up, and the street lights outside are the only things on. It’s a simple life of drawing and planning, and we quite like it that way.
