You can find Shivam Super Market And General Store at shop twenty-nine in the Sonam Shopping Centre on Mira Bhayandar Road. Even though the sign says super market, we are still very much a local general store at heart. Mira Road is a very busy area in Thane, and there are always people moving back and forth in front of the shop. I try to keep the aisles as clear as possible, but with so much stock coming in every week, it's a bit of a struggle. We carry everything from snacks and cold drinks to soaps and detergents. I’ve noticed that people are always in a hurry these days, so I try to be quick at the counter, even if the old register sometimes gets stuck. The shop is brightly lit, but it still has that slightly messy feel of a place that’s actually used by real people. I spend my afternoons checking the expiry dates and making sure nothing is sitting on the shelf for too long. It’s a lot of physical labor, lifting boxes and climbing ladders to reach the top shelves. My back usually aches by the time I close up at night, but seeing the same neighbors every day makes it worth it. We aren't a big chain, just a family-run spot trying to provide the basics for the people living in the Sonam complex.
