Shalimar Creation

Our place, Shalimar Creation, is situated out in Vasai East. Specifically, we are in the Bhoomi Industrial Estate in Chinchpada Village, Gokhewari. It’s a bit of a journey to get here if you’re coming from the main parts of Mumbai, but this is where the work happens. The area is mostly industrial, so there are a lot of trucks moving in and out all day long. Our unit is in the Waliv area. It’s not a place where you’d come for a casual stroll. We are here because it gives us the space we need to actually make things. It’s a lot of hard work and sometimes it gets really dusty. The workshop is always humming with the sound of machines. We don’t have a fancy reception or anything like that. Usually, if someone comes by, they just walk straight into the work area. We’ve been in this estate for several years now. It’s practical for us. We handle everything from the initial cutting to the final touches. It’s a small crew, mostly guys from the local neighborhood. We don’t really do the whole corporate thing. We just focus on the orders we have. Sometimes the power goes out, which is common in these industrial pockets, but we just manage. We’re just regular people trying to run a business in Vasai. It isn't glamorous, but it’s our living. We keep busy every day.
