Shikha Handloom

Shikha Handloom is located over in Bhayander East. Our place is called Sai Niwas, and we are in the Savli Vadodar area near Bahutha. It is a bit of a walk from the main road, but it is a quiet spot to work. We have been doing handloom work here for quite some time. It is a slow process compared to the big factories, but that is just how we do things. We spend our days working with different fabrics and threads. There are usually a few of us sitting together, working on the looms. It takes a lot of patience to get the patterns right. The building, Sai Niwas, is where we keep all our supplies and the finished pieces. It is a very local operation. We do not have a fancy website or a sales team. People usually hear about us from their friends or neighbors and then come by to see what we have made. Sometimes we have a lot of stock piled up, and other times we are working hard just to finish one order. The lighting in the workroom is not always perfect, but we make it work. It is a peaceful kind of life, even if the money is not huge. We take pride in the fact that everything is done by hand.
