Ms Manju Ashok Khajanchi

Bhayander East is always moving and I am right in the middle of it at Poonam Darshan. My name is Manju Ashok Khajanchi and my place is A/302. Being near the Shala Market means there is never a dull moment or a quiet hour during the day. You can hear the vegetable sellers and the bikes on the Main Road from early morning. It is a busy spot but I like being where the action is. The NKGSB Bank Ltd is just a short walk away so it is easy to run errands when I need to. I have lived in this part of town for years and I know the shortcuts through the market better than anyone. People drop by for different things and I just try to be helpful without making a big deal out of it. It’s a bit crowded sometimes with the traffic and the shoppers but that is just how life is here. My apartment serves as my base for everything I do. It is not a corporate setup with suits and ties. It is just me doing my bit in a space that smells like home-cooked food and old books. Sometimes the stairs are a bit dusty from the market wind but we manage. I think being part of a local community is more important than having a shiny storefront. You get to know the shopkeepers and the bank staff by their first names. It is a good life.
