Krishnalaya Music School

We started this small place in shop number 25 at Oswal Avenue because there weren't many spots for people to just come and learn an instrument around Ramdev Park Road. It’s not a huge space, but we have enough room for a few students at a time. Mostly, it’s just us teaching kids and some adults how to play the harmonium or maybe the guitar after they get home from their regular schools. Mira Road gets pretty busy, so we try to keep the atmosphere inside a bit more quiet. Sometimes the fans make a bit of noise, but nobody really minds when the music starts. We’ve been here in Thane for a while now. Neighbors know us by the sound coming out the door in the evenings. It is just a local music school where we show people the basics. You don’t need anything fancy to start, just a bit of patience. The floors are plain, and the chairs are just basic plastic ones. We keep the instruments on racks against the walls. It’s a simple setup. If you walk down Ramdev Park Road, you can see our sign above the shutter. We spend most of our day here, tuning strings or helping someone with their scales. It’s work, but it’s the kind of work we know how to do. Nothing too complicated, just a place for music. We often have to sweep the floor twice a day because of the dust from the street. It’s a regular part of our routine before the first student arrives.
