Being right on the Palakkad Bypass Road in Perintalmanna means we see a lot of traffic and a lot of people passing through. Vermogen Engineering Company is located at number 16, and it’s a pretty busy spot. We deal with a lot of heavy-duty stuff because of where we are situated. Drivers often stop by when they have a mechanical issue that needs an engineer's eye. The shop is quite large, which is good because we need the space for the bigger projects that come our way. We have a mix of old machines that still work well and some newer stuff we’ve picked up along the way. The floor is concrete and definitely shows the years of work we’ve put in. We don't go in for fancy uniforms or big signs. Most of us are usually wearing grease-stained clothes by ten in the morning. That’s just the nature of the job. We talk to each other in short bursts because of the noise from the bypass and the tools. It’s a practical environment. We don't promise things we can't do. If we can fix it, we will. If it’s beyond us, we’ll tell you straight. That’s how we’ve always operated here in Perintalmanna. It’s about getting the job done so people can get back on the road or back to their own work.
