Star Steels

Star Steels is based in Chalissery, over in the Palghat district. It’s a nice enough area, though it gets incredibly rainy during the monsoon months. Our shop is just a simple structure where we keep our inventory of steel. We don't have any big corporate offices or anything like that. It’s just us and the metal. Most days we are busy loading up the tempo trucks that come by. The ground stays a bit damp because of the trees and the shade around the plot. We’ve got a small shed for the more expensive pieces so they don't rust too fast in the humidity. Palghat has a lot of tradition, and we try to just be a quiet part of the local landscape. We know the postman and the other shop owners down the road. It’s a slow-paced kind of life compared to the bigger towns. We don't really do much in the way of promotion. If people need some steel for a house or a project, they find their way to Chalissery. We keep our paperwork in a metal cupboard and spend the rest of our time checking the stock. It can be hard work on the back, but it's what we know how to do. The neighbors sometimes stop by to chat while we work. It keeps the day from feeling too long when things are quiet.
