Kizhakkethil Store

Our store is situated right on Ooty Road in Perinthalmanna, which is part of the Malappuram district. Being on a main road like this means there is always something happening outside the front door. Kizhakkethil Store isn’t a massive supermarket; it’s more of a traditional shop where things are packed onto shelves from the floor to the ceiling. We spend a lot of our time just unpacking boxes and trying to find space for everything that comes in on the delivery trucks. The Perinthalmanna heat can be tough, especially in the afternoons when the sun hits the front of the shop, so we try to keep the fans going as much as we can. We don't have a fancy computer system for everything, so a lot of things are still done by hand or noted down in our books. You’ll see us moving things around a lot to make sure the stuff people want is easy to reach. Sometimes the Ooty Road traffic gets so loud we have to shout a bit to hear each other inside. It’s a busy life, and we are usually on our feet for ten or twelve hours a day. We get all sorts of people coming through, from locals we see every day to travelers just passing through Malappuram. It’s just a regular shop where we try to keep the shelves full and the floor relatively clean despite all the foot traffic.
