Jain Super Market

Jain Super Market sits right on Palakkad Main Road in Patyur, so we get a lot of dust from the heavy trucks passing by all day. It is a bit of a challenge keeping the front windows clean, but that is just how it is when you are on a main route like this. Inside, the aisles are a little narrow because we try to fit in as many different groceries as possible. You will find stacks of lentils near the back and the soaps and cleaners towards the side wall. I usually start my shift by checking the milk delivery and making sure the fridge is running okay. The lighting isn't fancy, just those long tubes that flicker a bit when you first turn them on in the morning. People from the local neighborhood drop in for small things, maybe a packet of biscuits or some spices for dinner. We don't have a big fancy system for everything; we just write things down and keep track of the stock the old-fashioned way. The heat in Palakkad can get pretty intense during the summer months, so we usually keep the front door propped open to catch whatever breeze comes off the road. It gets noisy with the horns honking outside, but after a few hours, you don't even notice it anymore. We just keep busy stocking the shelves and talking to the regulars who have been coming here since we opened up.
