Balaji General Stores

Balaji General Stores is at 9/379, Gandhi Road in Vaimpalle. Gandhi Road is a busy stretch, and we are tucked in among several other small businesses. Our store is not very wide, but it goes back quite a bit. We try to keep as much stock as possible because you never know what someone might walk in and ask for. One day it is a specific brand of tea, and the next day everyone wants a certain kind of light bulb. We have a lot of shelves, and sometimes things get a bit disorganized when we are busy. I try to tidy up every afternoon, but it never stays that way for long. Vaimpalle is a good town and we have lived here for most of our lives. We know the families who live in the houses nearby and we see their kids growing up year after year. It is a very simple operation. We don't have a computer system or anything like that. We just use our eyes and a pen to keep track of what we need to order next. The roof leaks a little bit in the back corner when the monsoon rains are heavy, but we just move the boxes out of the way. It is just a normal, everyday shop run by people who care about the neighborhood. We are just here to do our job and help out when we can.
