About Assistant Engineer In Kseb On Contract Basis – Electrical in Palakkad
I’m currently an assistant engineer working with KSEB on a contract basis down in Palakkad District. Being on contract means things are a bit different than the permanent staff, but the work is mostly the same. I spend a lot of my time traveling around different parts of the district. Palakkad can get really hot, especially compared to the rest of Kerala, and the winds can be quite strong too. This often leads to issues with the overhead power lines. I have to go out and inspect sites, talk to the local workers, and report back to the main office. My day usually starts early before the sun gets too high. I don't have a fixed office building that I stay in all day; it’s more about being where the trouble is. Sometimes I'm in the hills, other times in the flat areas. It’s a lot of responsibility because people really depend on the electricity for their farms and homes. The paperwork is always there, waiting at the end of the day. I keep my notes and logs in my bag. It’s a bit of a grind, and being on contract means you’re always looking at the next term, but I like the technical side of things. It’s honest work, and you feel like you’re actually doing something useful for the community here in Palakkad. We deal with the rain and the heat just to keep things moving.
