We’ve been here in Idukki for a while now, right at No. I -240 in Kumily. It’s a busy spot near the post office where folks from all around Thekkady stop by. Gaayatri Mallaiyan Tractors isn't anything fancy, just a place where we handle the machines that keep the local farms moving. You’ll usually find someone here covered in a bit of grease or looking over a engine part. The weather up here can be a bit much sometimes, but we keep the doors open. We know most of the people who walk through that door by their first name. It gets loud with the engines starting up, but that’s just how it is. We don't spend much time on office work; mostly, we're out back or helping a neighbor figure out why their tractor isn't pulling right. It’s simple work, really. The road out front stays dusty during the dry months, and we spend a lot of time just chatting about the harvest or the rain. If you’re passing through Kumily, you’ve probably seen our sign. We just focus on what’s in front of us and try to make sure the equipment is ready for the fields when the season hits. It’s a quiet life in the hills until the tractors start up, then things get moving pretty quick. Just local people doing local work here in the heart of the district. We stay busy enough.
