You can find us at 124 Dewali, where we run our food and spices business. It is a basic setup because we do not see the point in having a fancy office for what we do. Dealing with spices is a messy job. There is always dust from the ground peppers or turmeric in the air, and it gets on everything we wear. We spend our days measuring out portions and sealing bags. It is a lot of manual labor. Our team is small, mostly just family and a couple of helpers from the area. We do not have any big corporate plans or slogans. We just focus on getting the spices from the producers and making sure they are packed correctly. The smell in the building is very strong, which we have grown used to over time. Sometimes we mix up the orders and have to spend the evening fixing them, but we try our best. Dewali is a quiet enough place for us to get our work done without too many distractions. We use old-fashioned scales for some things because they still work just fine. Our workspace is filled with sacks and containers of all sizes. It is not the most organized place in the world, but we know where everything is. We just want to keep the business going and provide for our families. It is a simple way to make a living and we are okay with that.
