Our place is on the ground floor of House Number 3/6 in Block-A, Phase 3 of Satya Wati Colony. It is a quiet residential part of Ashok Vihar, so it doesn't feel like a big industrial hub. We use the ground floor space to store and manage our textiles. When you walk in, you will see rows of fabric piled up, mostly organized by color or material type. It is a family-style environment where everyone knows each other. We don't have big signs or a lobby. Usually, the front door is open to let some air in while we work. We spend a lot of time measuring out lengths of cloth and packing them up for local shops. The neighbors are used to seeing us moving rolls in and out of the building. Sometimes the kids from the colony play near the entrance, and we have to tell them to move so a delivery can get through. It is a very simple way of doing business. We don't use any complicated software or systems; a lot of it is just written down in ledgers or kept on a basic computer. We like being in Ashok Vihar because it feels more like a community than a business district. It is just a few of us working hard with cloth and trying to stay on top of the daily chores.
