Khari Baoli is known for many things, and we are right there at 389 A. At Om Shiv Mawa Bhandar, we deal with mawa and other dairy stuff. It is a traditional business that has been around for quite some time. The shop is small and often gets very busy in the mornings when the fresh stock arrives. It smells like boiled milk and sugar most of the time, which is something you get used to after a few days. We don't have much space to move around, especially with all the big containers we have to store. The work is hard and involves a lot of lifting and standing. Khari Baoli is a crowded market, so it can be quite a struggle just to get to the shop through the narrow lanes and the carts. We don't have any fancy cooling systems, just the basics to keep the products fresh. Most of our customers are people who have been buying from us for years, so we don't need to do any shouting or advertising. We just serve them and move on to the next person. During the festival months, we are on our feet from early morning until late at night. It’s tiring but it’s the way the business goes. We stay at 389 A because it’s where we belong. People can tell if what we have is good just by the look and the smell of it. It’s a humble life.
