Old Lajpat Rai Market is one of those places that stays in your head long after you leave. We are at 65/55 inside the market, and it’s always a bit of a squeeze getting through the narrow corridors when people are carrying big loads. Mohinder Kaur Knitting Private Limited is our small corner of the world here in North Delhi. We do a lot of knitting work, mostly focused on what the local market needs from us. It’s a very old area, so the buildings have that lived-in feel and the stairs are quite narrow. We’ve been here for years. The sounds of the market are part of our daily life—people shouting, carts moving, and the general buzz of 110006. Our shop is filled with yarn and different types of knitted goods. It’s not a clean, modern showroom by any means. It’s a working space where things actually get made. We spend our days dealing with customers and keeping the stock in order. Sometimes we get really busy during the colder months when everyone wants something warm to wear. We don't have a big corporate structure or anything like that. It’s mostly just family and a few workers who have been with us for a long time. We know the regulars who come by, and we’ve seen the market change a lot over the years. It’s a tough place to work sometimes because of the crowd, but it’s where we belong. We just keep the knitting going.
