Mittal Shudh Ghee Bhandar has been part of this market landscape for a long time. The smell of the ghee is the first thing you notice when you walk inside the shop. We spend a lot of time checking the tins and making sure every lid is sealed tight. Shivaji Market is a busy hub, especially during the festival seasons when everyone is out buying things for their kitchens. Our shop isn't huge, but it's packed with what we need to get through the day. We don't use fancy lighting or big digital signs, just the old painted board that’s been there since we started. The floor is made of stone and stays surprisingly cool even when the Narela heat is hitting the pavement outside. We sit on the gaddi and wait for the regulars to come by for their usual orders. Most of the people who walk in are neighbors or folks who have been coming to Shivaji Market since they were kids. It’s a simple, steady life. We don't try to be anything we're not. We just keep the containers filled and the accounts written down in the registers with a pen. Sometimes the stray dogs or the monkeys from the nearby trees cause a bit of a stir, but that's just part of the daily routine here. It’s a quiet pace of work from morning till the market lights start flickering at night.
