Kanha Dry Fruits

We are located right in the thick of things at Chawri Bazar 6551. If you know this part of Delhi, you know it is always loud and crowded with rickshaws and people pushing carts all day long. My family has been around this area for a long time. We mostly deal with dry fruits like almonds, cashews, and raisins that we keep in big sacks. Every morning, we open the metal shutters and start moving the heavy bags around to make space for customers to stand. The shop is small and it gets quite dusty because of all the traffic outside, but that is just how it is here. We spend a lot of time weighing things on the scale and packing them into plastic bags. Some days are very slow when the weather is too hot, and we just sit under the fan drinking tea. Other times, especially around the holidays, it gets so busy we barely have time to eat lunch. We do not have fancy displays or anything like that. It is just shelves piled high with boxes and the smell of dried nuts in the air. People come in looking for specific things for their cooking or for gifts, and we just find what they need from the stacks. It is hard work staying on your feet all day in such a cramped spot, but we are used to the noise and the routine of the market.
