If you head down to Kashmere Gate and find Ganda Nala Bazar on Hamilton Road, you’ll see Anand Motor Company. We are at 596/B. It’s a very crowded area, as anyone who knows this part of town can tell you. There’s always a lot of noise and people moving about. We’ve been here for a long time, and our shop is filled with all sorts of parts and grease. It’s definitely not a clean or quiet place. We’re usually elbow-deep in something mechanical or digging through shelves to find a specific part for a customer. The air smells like oil and old metal, which is just how it is in this line of work. We don't have a front desk or a waiting lounge. You just walk in and talk to whoever isn't busy. We don't use any fancy computer systems for everything; a lot of it is still done with notebooks and memory. It gets hot in the summer and the shop can feel a bit tight when we have a lot of stock delivered. We don't promise anything impossible. We just look at what’s broken or what’s needed and tell you what we can do. It’s a rough-and-ready kind of place. People in the bazar know us, and we know them. It’s just how business is done around Kashmere Gate. We stay until the job is done and the shop is locked up for the night.
