Shruti Varietis Store

Our store, Shruti Varietis Store, sits in Akrampur village, not too far from the Banerjee Bagan area. If you are coming from the Habra police station side, you will find us easily enough in this part of 24 Parganas North. It is a quiet spot mostly, except for when school lets out or people are heading home from work. We sell a bit of everything because that is what a variety store does. You might find some household items, maybe some snacks, or small things for the kitchen. The shelves are a bit crowded because we try to fit a lot into the space we have. Sometimes the dust from the road blows in, so we spend a decent amount of time wiping things down. My family helps out with the daily tasks, like opening up early in the morning and keeping track of what we need to buy next. We know most of the people who walk through the door by their first names. It feels like a community hub here. The lighting inside isn't the brightest, but it works for us. We don't have a big computer system or anything, just a simple notebook where we write things down. It gets quite humid here in the summer, so we keep the fan running at full speed. It is a simple life running a shop in the village, but it keeps us busy from dawn till dusk.
