Sapphire

Our place, which we call Sapphire, is tucked away in Uttar Raipur. To get here, you have to go past Dakshin Raipur and head towards the Nodakhali police station area. It is a very rural setting with lots of greenery and open space around the building. We do our daily work here in a very simple way. It isn't a high-tech factory or anything like that. We have a group of local workers who come in every morning to handle the production. Most of them live just a short walk away. The pace of life in the village is slower than the city, and we like it that way. We focus on making our products with the tools we have on hand. Sometimes the power goes out in this part of West Bengal, so we have to adjust our schedule and work when the lights are on. We don't have a marketing team or a fancy showroom. People usually find out about us through word of mouth in the neighboring villages. We spend our time checking the quality of what we make and packing things up for transport. It can get quite humid in the summers, so we keep the windows open to catch any breeze coming off the fields. It is a humble operation, but it keeps us busy and provides for the families who work here with us every single day throughout the year.
