Mondal Traders

Mondal Traders is located right in Village Makhalgachi. We’re very close to the Hasnabad Railway Station, so we hear the trains whistling and rattling past all day long. It’s a busy little corner of North 24 Parganas. We’ve been here for a good while, serving the people who live around here and those just passing through the station. The shop is small and packed with all sorts of things. Sometimes it’s hard to find a place to stand when we get a big delivery. We don’t have any big signs or bright lights. Most people just know us by word of mouth. My family helps out with the lifting and the counting. We start early in the morning before the first train arrives. The floor is a bit uneven and the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but it works for us. We talk a lot with the commuters and the farmers from around the village. It’s interesting to hear the news from the city when people get off the train. We just keep things simple and try to have what people are looking for. It gets a bit muddy when it rains, but that’s part of life in the village. We’re just a local business trying to do our part in Makhalgachi without making too much of a fuss about it. We stay open until the last train pulls out.
