Krishna Varities

Krishna Varities is our little shop in the village of Jadurhati. We are right beside the post office, which is handy because everyone goes there. It’s in the Baduria police station area, out in the 24 Parganas North district. Being beside the post office means we see a lot of people passing through Villpost-Jadurhati every day. We carry a bit of everything, which is why we called it Krishna Varities. The shop isn't very big, and the walls are mostly covered with items for sale. I usually sit near the front where I can see the road. It’s a bit of a slower pace of life out here in Baduria, which suits me fine. On rainy days, the sound on the roof is quite loud, and sometimes the floor gets a bit muddy from people coming in. We don't have a computer or anything fancy; we just use a notebook to keep track of things. The district of 24 Parganas North is a big place, but Jadurhati feels like a small world. My neighbors stop by to chat as much as they do to buy anything. We’ve been here a long time now. The post office next door is a good landmark if people are asking where we are. It’s just a simple life running a shop in the village. We open up early and close when it gets dark.
