If you head down to Kankinara Market in West Bengal, you’ll find us there under the name M/S Rangoli. We’re located in 24 Pgs (N), and the market is always buzzing with people, especially in the mornings. It’s a loud, busy place to work, but we’ve gotten used to the noise over the years. Our spot is right in the middle of all that action. We do fashion designing, but it’s more about the daily grind of making clothes that people can actually wear. The shop isn't very large, so we have to be organized, though it doesn't always stay that way when a big order comes in. There are stacks of boxes near the back and rolls of cloth leaning against the walls. We’ve been part of this market community for a long time, so we know most of the other shopkeepers around here. Sometimes we spend the whole afternoon just checking the details on a single pile of shirts. It’s repetitive, but someone has to do it. The humidity in West Bengal can be tough on the fabric, so we have to be careful how we store things. We aren't trying to be some big global brand. We’re just local people working in a local market, trying to make a living and keep our customers happy with what we produce. It’s a simple life, but it keeps us busy from dawn till dusk.
