We are located right inside Spice World Mall at Sector 25 114. Being in a mall means we follow their hours exactly. I get here before the main doors even open to start the ovens. The smell of baking bread and sugar fills up our corner of Sector 25 A pretty fast. We spend the morning decorating cakes and filling up the display bins with cookies and candies. It’s a lot of detail work with small brushes and tubes. My fingers are usually covered in food coloring or icing by noon. We get a lot of families who are just walking around the mall on their day off. The kids love to press their faces against the glass to see the sweets. I have to wipe the glass constantly to keep it looking clean. We have a lot of cardboard gift boxes to fold, which we do during the quiet times in the afternoon. Sometimes the mall music is a bit annoying, but you stop hearing it after an hour of working. We handle a lot of phone calls for custom birthday cakes. I have to write down the names and dates carefully so I don't make a mistake on the frosting. The flour gets everywhere, even on top of the fridge and our shoes. We keep a broom handy for the spills. It’s a sweet place to work, but it’s a lot of standing and moving trays around.
