Rajesh General Store

I started this store in Sector 51 at C-3 because I wanted a job that kept me close to home. It’s a typical general store where we keep all the basic things people run out of at the last minute. Bread, eggs, soap, and snacks for the kids. The shop isn't huge, but we make use of every inch of shelf space. I usually open up early in the morning before the school buses start passing by. People stop in for milk or cigarettes while they're walking their dogs. It gets busy in the evenings when everyone is coming back from work and realizes they forgot to buy something for dinner. I’ve lived in Noida for a long time now. The street can get a bit crowded with parked cars, but we manage. My son helps me out on the weekends when he isn't busy with his own studies. We don't have any fancy displays or bright lights. It's just a regular place where you can find what you need without a lot of talking. Sometimes I sit on the stool outside when it’s quiet and watch the traffic go past the corner. We’ve had some of the same customers for years. They know where everything is, so they don't even ask anymore. It’s just a neighborhood shop. We try to keep the staples in stock so nobody leaves disappointed when they need sugar or matches for their kitchen. It is a simple way to spend the day and stay involved with the neighbors.
