Opad Shoes

Our place is B-9 in Sector-60. This is where we do all our shoe work. It’s an industrial sector, so it’s mostly rows of buildings and warehouses. We aren't a shop where people come to try on shoes; it’s more of a manufacturing spot. The air inside always smells like leather, rubber, and various adhesives we use. It’s a smell you get used to after a while, I suppose. We have several machines for cutting and stitching, and they make a fair bit of noise when we are in full swing. We have a small group of workers who have been with us for years, so we all know how the other person works. The space is often a bit messy with scraps of leather and half-finished soles lying around the benches. We try to keep it organized, but when we have a big order to finish, the priority is just getting the shoes done. We’ve been in Sector-60 for quite a bit now. The building is simple and doesn't have any fancy signage. Most of our day is spent at the workbenches or checking the quality of the finished pairs. We don't have a big marketing department or anything; we just focus on the craft and the daily tasks. It’s hard work on your feet all day, but it’s what we know. We just stay here and keep the machines running. It gets pretty hot in the afternoons but we have some fans to keep the air moving.
