Baskin Robbins

The Baskin Robbins here in Sector 18 is pretty much what you’d expect from a small shop in a busy area. We have those big glass freezers that we have to scrape the ice off of every morning so people can actually see what’s inside. The floor is that hard white tile that gets really slippery if anyone drops even a tiny bit of water or cream. We keep a stack of napkins on every table because things tend to get messy, especially when there are kids around. The air conditioner hums quite loudly, and sometimes it rattles the ceiling panels, but it keeps the place cold enough so nothing melts too fast. We spend a lot of time just standing behind the counter waiting for the next person to walk in. Most people are in a hurry because of the Sector 18 traffic, so they don’t stay very long. We have a small trash can outside that fills up way too fast with those little pink spoons. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to hurry to make sure the backup generator kicks in so we don't lose any stock. It’s a lot of repetitive work, scooping and cleaning and refilling the tubs, but it’s what we do. The street noise outside is constant, but inside it’s just the sound of the freezer compressors. We have a small stool behind the counter that we share when someone needs a quick break, but most of the time we are on our feet.
