Baba Shoes

We are over here at A-2-15 in Sharma Market. If you know the Chankya Palace area in Janakpuri, you probably walked past us a few times. It’s just a regular shoe shop. My family started this a while back because people always need something on their feet. We don’t have fancy lights or those big glass displays like the malls. It is mostly just stacks of boxes piled up to the ceiling. You come in, tell us your size, and we find something that fits. We carry slippers, school shoes for the kids, and some leather ones for work. Janakpuri is a busy place and Sharma Market gets really crowded in the evenings. Sometimes the tea stall next door gets more visitors than us, but we don't mind. We open around ten in the morning and stay until late. It gets dusty being on the main path, so we spend a lot of time wiping the boxes down. There isn't much to say about why we do it. It is just the work we know. Customers are mostly neighbors or people living nearby who don't want to travel far for a pair of sandals. We keep things simple and talk to whoever walks in. Sometimes we have a chat about the weather or the traffic while they try things on. That is how it goes every day at Baba Shoes. Just work and shoes.
