Our place, Alaknanda Institute, is over at Sector 20 A 62A. It is not the easiest building to find if you are new to the area, as the numbers can be a bit confusing. We have a few rooms set up with benches and whiteboards for the students. It is mostly quiet here during the mornings, but once the afternoon hits, the hallways get crowded. We focus on helping people get through their exams or learn a new skill they need for work. The walls are a plain off-white color and we have some old posters up about different subjects. Sometimes the lights flicker a bit, but we just ignore it and carry on with the lesson. There is no big cafeteria or lounge area. Students usually just stand outside in the shade of the trees to talk during their breaks. We go through a lot of markers and notebooks every month. It feels like a very normal, local spot where people come to put in some effort. We don’t have any fancy technology or leather chairs. Just simple wooden desks that have seen a lot of use over the years. The person at the front desk is usually busy sorting out papers or answering the landline that rings at the worst times. It’s a basic setup that works for us and the people who come here. We just take it day by day.
