The shop at Sector 13, 105 Sector, is where we keep all the supplies for Agricon Chemicals & Fertilizer Company. It’s a bit different from the shops selling electronics because everything here is heavy and comes in big sacks or plastic jugs. The air always has that sharp, earthy smell of fertilizers and different chemicals used for the fields. We spend a lot of our time moving these bags around, stacking them up against the walls so we have a clear path to walk. It’s hard work on the back, but it’s what we do. Farmers and some local gardeners come in asking what they should use for their crops or why their leaves are turning yellow. We have to look at the labels and explain how much water to mix in. The desk is covered in ledgers where we write down every sale by hand because it’s easier than using a computer for everything. We have a small area in the back for storage where it stays a bit cooler. Sometimes the bags tear and we have to clean up the white powder from the floor. It is not a glamorous job, and our clothes often get stained with dirt or chemicals by the end of the shift. We stay open pretty late during the planting season because that’s when everyone needs us the most. It’s just a practical business run by people who don't mind getting their hands dirty.
