Bahadhurmal Chowdhary & Sons

Our shop is at number 50 in Shradhanand Gunj. It’s a busy market area, and things get pretty hectic during the day. This business has been in the family for a couple of generations now. My sons are here with me most days, helping out with the customers and the inventory. We don't have a big fancy sign or anything, just the name over the door that’s faded a bit over time. Inside, it’s a bit cramped because we try to keep as much stock as possible on the shelves. There are bags and boxes everywhere you look. We sell a bit of everything that people in this neighborhood need. The neighbors are all friendly, and we often share a cup of tea in the afternoons when the rush slows down. It’s a lot of standing on your feet and moving things around. We don't really bother with much technology, just a basic phone and a calculator. Sometimes the billing takes a little longer because we do it by hand. People don't seem to mind, though. They like coming here because they know us and we know them. The floor is old stone and it’s seen a lot of shoes over the years. We keep the doors open to let the breeze in, though mostly it just lets the noise of the market in too. It’s a good place to work, even if it is a bit loud and dusty for some.
