Working over here in R.K Nagar, you get a pretty good view of the Chittorgarh Fort if you stand in the right spot in the yard. We are based out in the Tehsil-Nimbahera area, which is a bit of a trek from the main city, but it’s where all the action is. The sun out here in Rajasthan is no joke, especially during the summer months. We have a lot of space, which is lucky because we handle a massive amount of cement daily. You’ll see trucks coming in and out at all hours. It’s a bit of a dusty life, but we’re used to it. The machinery is loud and there is always someone fixing a belt or checking a motor somewhere in the facility. We don’t really dress up for work; it’s all boots and rough clothes because of the environment. Our team is mostly made up of people from the nearby villages. We eat lunch together in the shade when we can find it. Sometimes the wind blows the sand across the R.K Nagar area and we have to cover everything up quickly. It’s a lot of physical labor and keeping track of numbers on clipboards. We don’t have any fancy receptionists or plush carpets. It’s just a big, industrial operation that keeps moving along regardless of the heat. We focus on the daily tally and making sure the trucks are loaded safely. Being near the fort reminds us of the history here.
