Fresh Veggi Exporters

Our business is right in the middle of Market Ooty. It’s a busy spot, especially in the early mornings when all the trucks are arriving. We spend most of our time dealing with vegetables coming in from the nearby farms. My day usually starts around five, checking the state of the greens and root veggies that the local guys bring in. Ooty is known for having good soil, so we try to pick out what looks decent that day. We aren't a big corporation with fancy logos, just a group of us working out of a basic warehouse space. It’s cold up here in the hills, so we usually have a lot of tea while we sort through the crates. We pack everything into bags and boxes to be sent out to different cities. Sometimes the roads are blocked by rain or landslides, which makes things a bit stressful, but we manage to get through it. The floor is usually covered in bits of dirt and leaves, and my boots are never really clean. We handle all the loading ourselves and make sure the drivers know where they are going. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from dawn until the late afternoon. We’ve been at this for years now, just keeping things simple and focusing on getting the produce moved before it starts to wilt. There’s no secret to it, just showing up and doing the work every single day.
