Women Livestock Farmer Producer Companylimited

Out here at Plot 304 in Gemona, things stay pretty busy with the animals. We are a group of women who decided to get into livestock together as the Women Livestock Farmer Producer Companylimited. Anil Viththarao Tupat’s place is where we handle the main paperwork and the organizing part of it. It isn't always easy working with goats or cows because they have their own ideas about where they want to go. We spend most of our mornings checking on the health of the stock and making sure the pens are clean enough. It gets hot in the middle of the day so we try to get the heavy lifting done early. There are a lot of us involved and everyone has a different way of doing things, but we make it work. We talk a lot while we work, mostly about the weather or what needs to be bought for the next week. Sometimes the trucks are late and we just sit around the plot waiting. It’s a practical way to earn a living and it keeps us close to the land. Gemona is a decent place for this kind of work because there’s enough space if you know where to look. We don’t have any big speeches to give about what we do. We just look after the animals and hope the market prices stay fair. It’s honest work and it keeps our hands full every single day in this area.
