Running a hardware shop in Karol Bagh is never boring. We are tucked away in Raigar Pura, right near Hathi Chowk, which is a busy area most of the time. If you’ve ever tried to fix a leaky tap or redo a bathroom, you know how many little parts are involved. Our shelves are packed with everything from heavy pipes to those tiny washers that always seem to go missing. It’s a bit of a maze inside sometimes, but we know where every single nut and bolt is kept. Some days it’s just locals coming in for a bucket or some nails, other times it’s contractors needing a whole lot of sanitaryware for a new project. We spend a lot of time hauling boxes around and checking the stock. It’s a family-run kind of feel here. We don't use a lot of fancy computers for everything; sometimes a handwritten bill is just faster when the shop is full of people. The noise from the street is always there, but you get used to it after a week or two. We try to keep the shop floor clear so people don't trip over the sinks, but it's tough when new shipments arrive. It’s just us, some heavy metal tools, and a lot of dust. People come to us because they know we’ve been near Hathi Chowk for ages and we aren't going anywhere. We take pride in just being here every morning when the shutters go up.
