Simla Fruit Mart

Simla Fruit Mart has been at 72-B in Khan Market for quite some time. It’s not the biggest shop on the block, but we try to keep it well-stocked. Every morning starts early, usually before the sun is even up, when the crates arrive from the wholesalers. It’s a lot of heavy lifting, and my back feels it some days. Khan Market has changed a lot lately with all the new cafes and boutiques, but we’re still here doing what we know. We don’t have a website or any of that stuff, just the physical shop where you can see what you’re getting. Sometimes the fruit is perfect, and sometimes nature has its own plans, so we just sort through it all. It’s a simple life, honestly. We know most of the people who walk past our door. Some stop to chat about the weather, others are in a big rush. We have a few old wooden stools if someone needs to rest for a minute while we pack their bags. The floors are a bit worn down from all the foot traffic over the years. We keep the place clean, but it’s a working shop, so there’s always a bit of stray paper or a stray leaf somewhere. We aren't corporate people. We just sell what comes in from the farms. If you’re ever around 72-B, you’ll see us there, probably moving some boxes or helping a customer pick out a bag of apples.
