Shikha Interfab

We are tucked away in Himgiri Apartments, specifically Pocket A-14 in Kalkaji Extension. Working out of an apartment building like this means Shikha Interfab feels more like a home than a regular factory. We have rolls of fabric leaning against the walls and sewing machines set up where they fit. You can usually hear the rhythmic thumping of the needles if you stand in the hallway. Being in New Delhi-110019, we are right in the middle of everything, but our corner of the building is actually pretty quiet most of the time. We spend our days looking at thread colors and cutting through different types of cloth to fill the orders we get. It’s a lot of manual work, checking the seams and making sure the fabric doesn't have any snags in it. Sometimes the lighting in the rooms isn't great for seeing the fine details, so we move closer to the windows during the afternoon. We don't have a big showroom or a receptionist at a desk. Usually, it's just one of us answering the door with a tape measure around our neck. It gets a bit cramped when a new shipment of material arrives, and we have to shuffle furniture around to make space. It’s just a small, local operation where we focus on the fabric and getting the stitching right without any of the extra fluff. We just do the work as it comes in.
