At Dinesh Footwear, we operate out of No. 11878/10 in Sat Nagar, which is part of the Karol Bagh area. It is a very crowded place, as anyone who lives in Delhi can tell you. Our shop is filled with shoes of all kinds, stacked up in boxes that reach almost to the ceiling. It is a bit of a squeeze when more than two or three people come in at once. We don't have fancy displays or bright lights like the big malls. We just have what we have on the shelves. It’s a family-run kind of thing, and we have been in Sat Nagar for quite a few years now. The floor is a bit uneven and the fan makes a clicking noise, but it keeps us cool enough during the summer months. Customers usually come in looking for something sturdy they can wear every day. We talk to them, find their size, and hope they like what they see. There is no pressure. Karol Bagh is always changing, but our little corner stays pretty much the same. We know the other vendors nearby, and we often share a meal or a conversation during the slow hours. It is a simple life centered around footwear. We don't think about being the biggest shop, just about being the one people can rely on when they are walking through Sat Nagar.
