Salim Chicken & Mutton Shop is located in Vasant Kunj at C-9. It’s a straightforward kind of place where we focus on the work at hand. Every morning, we get the fresh supply in and start the process of cleaning and cutting. It’s a job that requires a lot of focus because you don't want to make mistakes with the knives. The shop is kept as clean as we can manage, given the nature of what we sell. People in Vasant Kunj are picky, so we have to make sure the meat is exactly how they want it, whether they want it for a curry or something else. We get quite a crowd in the evenings, especially on weekends when everyone is planning a big dinner. The sound of the choppers on the wood blocks is the main thing you hear when you walk in. It’s a bit cold inside because of the refrigeration, which is a relief when it’s hot outside. We don’t have a big seating area or anything like that. You come in, tell us what you need, we wrap it up in newspaper or bags, and you’re on your way. We’ve known some of our customers since they were kids coming in with their parents.
