Peoples Publishing House (P) Ltd.

Our place is up on the second floor of Building 5-E. It’s right on Rani Jhansi Road, so there’s always something happening outside. If you’ve ever walked this stretch, you know how it is. Peoples Publishing House is a bit tucked away upstairs, but once you’re inside, it’s mostly just desks and stacks of paper. We spend a lot of time checking proofs and talking to printers. It isn't a huge operation, even if the name sounds big. There are just a few of us here making sure things move along. The stairs can be a bit much if you’re carrying a lot of heavy boxes, which we usually are. We’ve been in this building for quite some time now. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but we’re usually too busy to worry about that. It’s a practical workspace. We deal with authors and distribution mostly. Every morning starts with sorting through the mail and the new shipments. Rani Jhansi Road is a good spot for us because it’s central, even if the parking is a total headache for everyone. We just do our work and go home. No flashy signs or anything like that. Just a quiet office doing publishing stuff. Sometimes the tea man comes by and that's the highlight of the afternoon. We like the rhythm of it. It’s not always organized but we get the books out eventually.
