The office for Oxford University Press Pvt. Ltd. is on the first floor of the YMCA Library Building on Jai Singh Road. Being in such an old building gives the place a very specific feel. We are at Post Box 43, and the architecture around here is quite grand compared to modern offices. Inside, however, it looks like a regular workplace with desks, computers, and a lot of bookshelves. We don't have a retail counter here, so it is mostly staff working on publishing and distribution matters. The ceilings are high and the windows are large, letting in a good amount of light during the day. We have a lot of files and books stored in various cabinets. It is a quiet place most of the time, punctuated by the sound of phones ringing or people discussing some text. We aren't a massive corporate headquarters with hundreds of people; it feels more like a dedicated local branch. The walk to the building is nice because of the trees along Jai Singh Road. We have been here for a long time and the routine stays pretty much the same. We come in, handle the academic and educational materials, and try to keep things orderly. It is a professional but lived-in space where we just focus on getting the books out to the institutions and shops that need them.
